Back story.
John Panks, Director of the Rootes USA activities instigated putting a big American V8 into the Sunbeam Alpine. This resulted in the Sunbeam Tiger and went into production.
Des O’Dell, Rootes Competition manager liked the Tiger and developed a racing version. Problem was that it was really too short for the amount of power it had so was a bit of a cornering nightmare.
So, a bit tongue in cheek, I drew the above and said to the Board “if you want to go racing with a V8 how about we build this ?” The answer was “No” of course !
