Back story.

I thought that using the Imp engine, which was thoroughly tested in rallying, would be a super base for a pure racing car to win the Index of Performance at Le Mans. The company had no money to do such a project so I designed and built it myself, in the garage under my house in Leamington Spa. It was the first monocoque glued chassis, using 22-gauge soft aluminium sheet. Unknown to me Ford were doing the same thing with the GT40 at the same time. I did not the money to take it to Le Mans, so I used it for Club racing and Hillclimbs. Eventually, at my own expense, I built a parallel-8 engine using two Imp engines joined together, then driving through a Porsche gearbox.
